The UN WorldWide Campaign on Climate Change

Seal The Deal

Seal the Deal! at the National Ecotourism Conference

alt“Tourism Business in a Changing Climate” was the theme of the  3rd Biannual National Ecotourism Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. Seal the Deal! was on the spot to promote the campaign and create partnerships with regional actors for a powerful final spurt on the road to Copenhagen.
Tourism is one of the major sectors in the global economy today and is confronted with many challenges related to Climate Change. Unspolit nature and beautiful landscapes  are the mainstays for successful tourism. However, travelling, especially long-distant travelling has a great climate impact during the journey as well as at the destination.
Today, a lot of actors in the tourism industry are aware of this dilemma and see ecotourism as a way to invest in future returns by reducing carbon footprint of tourists during their travels. Apart from profitability of sustainable economic management, ecotourism can also be seen as a chance to educate people about climate responsible behaviour. As holidays are often considered to be highlights of the year, they can be a true test of “green living”, combining leisure activities with climate responsible bealthaviour.

Seal the Deal!’s partner Ecotourism Kenya is a civil society organization that was founded in 1996 to promote ecotourism and sustainable tourism practices in Kenya.
